Eero Aarnio gained notoriety around the world due mainly to its chair and armchair creations. He studied Design at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki. From 1962 on, he worked in his office in Helsinki. Over the years, the Finnish designer has become an important representative of the futurist designs of the 60s. Aarnio is also considered a pioneer in the processing of industrial materials such as fiberglass, acrylic glass and plastic in household furniture. His incomparable furniture therefore was popular in the classic science fiction films. The trained photographer, who worked for the designer Antti Nurmesniemi and Ilmari Tapiovaara among others during his studies and was inspired by them, is still today on the road a lot to find new ideas for his projects. Sketches and drawings are the basis on which Carpenters finish models for him which Eero Arnio then further develops. His by far most famous furniture design is the Ball Chair. The legendary designer furniture, however, was actually born out of necessity, because the designer and his wife desperately needed a big chair. This should be functional, cozy and comfortable at the same time. Step by Step it has evolved into the organic-round shape that today can be found as Eero Aarnio Ball Chair style lounge chair 1963 in numerous lofts or apartments. The stylish and unusual ball standing on one foot is now a retro classic par excellence. The comfortable Bubble Chair arose because Eero Arnio just wanted to have a ball chair which transmitted light. This cozy sitting hemisphere is classically mounted around in the living room or bedroom to a hanger, so you can quietly lose the ground under your feet while dreaming.
